How can I help a friend or a family member?

Healthy relationships

Sex & Trust

Self-esteem

If you are abusive

What Happened:

At a very young age I started dating - nothing real serious just young relationships. Then I met this boy. This boy was really nice. He liked me alot and I played hard to get. We fell in love, so I thought! Everything seemed okay. We dated the whole year, spending everyday together. Then we both went to different high schools and he got into drugs. This pulled us apart! We stoped seeing each other so much. We started seeing other people and we just were falling apart. Then this summer I wanted him back and he felt a feeling of being in control. So he started hitting me! I thought it was okay cause I was in love. I liked him so much. He would always say sorry and that he loved me. I thought that made everything okay! I WAS WRONG!

How I coped:

I blamed myself and I know now that it was his problem for hitting me, but mine for staying around! I stopped talking to him and acting as though we never met! I still love and care about him but, not talking to him is how I've been getting over him!

How the situation changed:

I stopped talking to him. I made a new life for myself. I made new friends. Friends are more important and I wish I knew that before!

What helped me to get stronger:

Friends and my Aunt!

What I would say to someone who is being abused:

Don't think it's your fault! Don't ever think it's okay! His hand should not touch you in a harmful way. Tell someone and get that person to help.
